Mourning spaces and support for mothers who have given birth to a child who did not survive. We brought the first CuddleCot™ units to Romania so that parents who have lost a child in birth can say goodbye as they feel, as they need to.
There are no words that can ease the pain of mothers who have lost their babies in childbirth, but we can provide a space where they can be heard and supported.
Together with Asociația Zi de Bine, we have set up mourning and support spaces at the maternity wards of Spitalul Clinic de Obstetrică și Ginecologie Filantropia and Spitalul Clinic „Dr. I. Cantacuzino” in Bucharest for mothers who lost their babies during pregnancy or at birth. At the same time, we brought the first CuddleCot™ units in Romania to the two hospitals, so that parents who have lost a child during birth can say goodbye as they feel, as they need.
We need to know how to be there for mothers who have lost their baby and give them the support and care they need at such a devastating time.
The CuddleCot is a carrycot with a cooling device so that the lifeless baby can be kept in the right conditions for such situations. The device is used in most hospitals in the UK, countries in Europe, Australia and the USA.
